So like many other guys who don't want to admit it, I like burning candles.  However, the perpetual back-of-mind thought is that the little flames are going to burn the house down and make the dog and I homeless.  Because fo this, I have been venturing into pod warmers.  The mission, of course, is to shop as cheap as possible while still able to make rooms smell nice.

The first route I tried was the $5 pod warmer from Wal-Mart.  It's small, cheap and doesn't work well except to keep the coffee cup warm.  That advise was given to me by Johnny King of JKDesigns before I threw the warmer our as garbage.  I contacted Pam Quigley of Gold Canyon Candles, who previously hooked me up with candles that did an amazing job of making the house smell like a dream.  She was able to offer the Scent Pod and Warmer System.  According to the catalog she left me for the Christmas Season, the warmers range from $29-$37 each and pods are about $6.

The electric pod warmer was so easy to use.  I put a scent pod on, turned on the click timer button for 4, 8 or 12 hours and walked away.  That's it.  i didn't have to scrape wax, change a burned out bulb and no hot warmer.  When the scent in the pod was finished, I put the lid back on and threw it away.

The first test was to put it in the bedroom, which is about 12'x10' and close the door for about half an hour.  The scent was incredible.  The Mulled Cider scent was first and it is so very perfect for this time of year.  There are more than 70 scents to choose from but I would advise letting Pam choose for you.  She did a very good job.  I also used the Candy Corn and Beach, all of which were just amazing.  The clicker button is really easy to use and the fire concerns I had before have been completely alleviated (woohoo!).

Also, the pod warmer is very decorative and since I'm still a bachelor, it sticks out in that hodge podge bedroom.  It's just too beautiful.  The only complaint I'm able to muster about the pod warmer is that I kept carrying it from room to room when I knew I'd be somewhere for awhile.  it wasn't that bad though, the lingering scent left in the previous room would linger for a day or so.

Especially with the Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons coming to us VERY quickly.  I would recommend calling Pam Quigley and getting at least one of these things as you begin celebrating the holidays with family and friends.  You want a good-smelling home to match the Christmas decorations, don't you?  This really has been one of my favorite featured piece reviews at HobNobMurfreesboro.  Enjoy!
