MRI Offers Added Convenience for Diagnostic Tests

Murfreesboro, TN - Middle Tennessee Imaging Murfreesboro, a member of the Saint Thomas Imaging Network, recently expanded magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) services in its new location on the Middle Tennessee Medical Center (MTMC) campus.

Middle Tennessee Imaging Murfreesboro recently moved from its Highland Avenue location into the Seton Medical Office Building at 1840 Medical Center Parkway and is co-located in suite 101 with the Center for Breast Health at Middle Tennessee Medical Center.

The GE 1.5 Tesla MRI, installed on Monday, Feb. 20, is capable of producing high quality detailed imaging for a large cross section of exams of the body, including brain, lumbar, thoracic, cervical spine, extremities, joints, abdomen and magnetic resonance (MR) angiography. MRI provides good contrast between different soft tissues of the body, which makes it especially useful in imaging the brain, muscles, heart and cancers compared with other medical imaging techniques such as computed tomography (CT) or X-rays. MRI uses a magnetic field and radio waves to create detailed images of the body. Unlike CT scans and traditional X-rays, no ionizing radiation is involved.

“We’re excited about adding this MRI to the center because it will improve scheduling and offer greater convenience for many patients who may need an MRI done while seeing physicians in nearby offices,” Dr. Max Moss, radiologist for Middle Tennessee Imaging Murfreesboro. “Many exams will be able to be performed the same day they are ordered.”

Middle Tennessee Imaging Murfreesboro also has an MRI that is currently operational for various procedures. This MRI will be used for breast imaging procedures once a new CAD system is installed.

In addition to Middle Tennessee Imaging Murfreesboro, patients in Rutherford County and surrounding areas can obtain medical imaging services at Middle Tennessee Imaging Smryna, located at 741 President Place, Suite 100, in Smyrna. This center is also a member of the Saint Thomas Imaging Network.

The Saint Thomas Imaging Network is the largest outpatient imaging network in Middle Tennessee with 10 imaging locations across the region.
