Meet the locals: Brian Hughlett

Need a deck repair? Want to mount that brand new flat screen on the wall? Looking to add a flower garden to your landscape? All of these jobs plus many more call for a helping hand, and who better than Brian Hughlett, your friendly handyman.

Brian’s kind smile is not one commonly found in your average handyman, but Brian is anything but average. Claiming that no job is too odd for him, he specializes in small landscaping, interior painting, custom media installation and much more.

“I enjoy building things that last, and making things people can enjoy,” commented Brian.

Brian grew up in Knoxville and moved to Murfreesboro 2 years ago from Vermont. He was brought to the area for the low cost of living, and he knew he wanted to start his own business here. Almost a year ago, he started Brian’s Handyman Services and joined the Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce.

“I wanted to overcome my greatest obstacle which was that I am not from this area,” explained Brian. “I’ve gotten so much out of joining the Chamber. I lined up three jobs at the last Business After Hours alone.”

This Elvis fan claims to have read almost every book written about the legend. And with a fiancé that works at the public library, he has no shortage of books at his disposal. When he isn’t reading or improving his own house, you can find Brian jamming out on the drums, harmonica or guitar. Yes, this is a guy of many talents.

“I really have grown to love this area,” said Brian with that friendly smile, “especially Murfreesboro’s choice of restaurants.”
