Thanksgiving Day Race Raises $57,000 for Charities

Murfreesboro, TN - Following its second annual race, which saw a 50% increase in the number of participants over its inaugural event, Borodash handed out $57,000 to this year’s charities. As part of a celebration dinner Tuesday night, Borodash presented checks of $42,000 to Neema House, Inc., $10,000 to Greenhouse Ministries and $5,000 to Candle Wishes.

“When you look at what Borodash has become in just two short years, one can only marvel at the way God has used this race to bless these charities” said Staci McCreary, Director of Borodash. “These three organizations are making a difference in our community and our world. And thanks to the support of literally thousands of people, we are so excited to present Neema House, Greenhouse Ministries and Candle Wishes with these funds to help continue their great work.”

McCreary was quick to credit many for the success of this year’s Borodash.

“We raised $57,000 as a direct result of overwhelming support of this race from the community,” she said. “We had 2,430 people sign up to run or walk the Borodash which was about 800 more people than last year. And our local sponsors were amazing in their generosity. Borodash was blessed to have Reeves-Sain join this year as a presenting sponsor and several other sponsors matched or exceeded their sponsorship totals from last year.”

Executives with the charities shared their excitement related to the donations.

“This money from Borodash will go to support children in need across Rutherford County,” explained Jenny Williams, Chief Gift Giver with Candle Wishes. “We are just overwhelmed by the generosity of this community and of the Borodash board. I wish I could thank every person who ran in this year’s Borodash and encourage them to run next year too.”
