Thanksgiving Day Race Raises $57,000 for Charities
Murfreesboro, TN - Following its second annual race, which saw a 50% increase in the number of participants over its inaugural event, Borodash handed out $57,000 to this year’s charities. As part of a celebration dinner Tuesday night, Borodash presented checks of $42,000 to Neema House, Inc., $10,000 to Greenhouse Ministries and $5,000 to Candle Wishes.
“When you look at what Borodash has become in just two short years, one can only marvel at the way God has used this race to bless these charities” said Staci McCreary, Director of Borodash. “These three organizations are making a difference in our community and our world. And thanks to the support of literally thousands of people, we are so excited to present Neema House, Greenhouse Ministries and Candle Wishes with these funds to help continue their great work.”
McCreary was quick to credit many for the success of this year’s Borodash.
“We raised $57,000 as a direct result of overwhelming support of this race from the community,” she said. “We had 2,430 people sign up to run or walk the Borodash which was about 800 more people than last year. And our local sponsors were amazing in their generosity. Borodash was blessed to have Reeves-Sain join this year as a presenting sponsor and several other sponsors matched or exceeded their sponsorship totals from last year.”
Executives with the charities shared their excitement related to the donations.
“This money from Borodash will go to support children in need across Rutherford County,” explained Jenny Williams, Chief Gift Giver with Candle Wishes. “We are just overwhelmed by the generosity of this community and of the Borodash board. I wish I could thank every person who ran in this year’s Borodash and encourage them to run next year too.”
Final Preparations Underway for Borodash 2011
Murfreesboro, TN - With final preparations underway for Borodash 2011, one key component of ensuring a successful event has recently been taken care of. Following up on its sponsorship of the inaugural Borodash race last year in which more than 1,600 runners took part in the first ever Thanksgiving Day race in Murfreesboro, Reeves-Sain has joined Borodash as the presenting sponsor for this year’s race.
“We are so excited to have the support of Reeves-Sain,” said Staci McCreary, Director of Borodash. “We could never carry out the mission of our race without the support and assistance from all of our sponsors. Thanks to the incredible presenting sponsorship by Reeves-Sain, Borodash can continue to provide Rutherford County a well-organized Thanksgiving Day race.”
According to Shane Reeves, co-owner of Reeves-Sain, supporting Borodash is very much in line with the company’s mission statement and core commitment.
“Reeves-Sain exists to provide for the health and general welfare of local residents,” Reeves explained. “Borodash has created an event that encourages entire families to come together to the benefit of their health and of the community. This sponsorship of Borodash presents an ideal opportunity for our company to support those efforts.”
One way that Reeves-Sain is supporting Borodash financially is through the company’s flu vaccine program. Reeves explained that anyone obtaining a flu shot from Reeves-Sain has the opportunity to direct a portion of the cost towards one of four local charities, Borodash included.
“The amount of financial support through this effort is entirely up to the public,” Reeves said. “Through our immunization program, helping keep our customers in good health also boosts the health of four local organizations. Every customer who gets a flu vaccine now also has the opportunity to help Borodash continue to grow in its effort to impact the local community.”

BORODASH GIVES BACK
Local Race Donates $23,500 to Charities
Murfreesboro TN -. (Dec. 6, 2010) - Thanks to an overwhelming turnout at its first ever Thanksgiving day race, Borodash needed a few extra days to tabulate the final income and expenses. But after all the numbers were crunched, more than $24,000 in cash and gifts was handed out to this year’s beneficiaries. In a ceremony Monday night, Borodash presented checks of $16,500 to Neema House, Inc. and $7,000 to Greenhouse Ministries. “These two donations are the culmination of all the hard work and effort from the inaugural Borodash” said Staci McCreary, Director of Borodash. “Our event was always intended to benefit charities making a difference in our community and our world. We are so excited to present Neema House and Greenhouse Ministries with these funds.” McCreary explained that the numbers of participants registered for the inaugural Borodash far exceeded initial expectations of race organizers. “We originally expected to have 250 runners our first year. In our wildest dreams, we hoped for 500 runners. But we had 1,638 runners take part in the inaugural Borodash,” McCreary said. “It was an amazing response from the local community. Proceeds from the race as well as donations of canned goods and shoes from the participants will now go to two great charities that will provide for the care and assistance to literally thousands of people.”
