The Centennial issue of Collage: A Journal of Creative Expression, the arts and literary magazine sponsored by MTSU’s Honors College, is now available to students, faculty and staff on campus.

A gift from alumnus Paul W. Martin Jr. recognizing past and present Honors College directors and deans helped make the issue possible. It features bronze foil stamping and a die cut on the cover as well as a timeline celebrating a century of MTSU’s milestones.

The publication is available in magazine racks in Peck Hall, Todd Hall, the Keathley University Center, the College of Education Building, John Bragg Mass Communication Building, the Margaret H. Ordoubadian University Writing Center and the Paul W. Martin Sr. Honors Building.Senior Jennifer Johnson, a Buchanan Fellow, served as editor-in-chief, and Courtney Hunter, an art major with a graphic-design concentration, designed the Centennial magazine. A staff of 19 undergraduate students reviewed and edited 222 submissions of art, poetry, photography and prose and selected 49 pieces for publication. The published work, which represents 38 MTSU students and alumni, was chosen through a blind review process.

Collage accepts submissions year-round primarily through its online system available at www.mtsu.edu/~collage.

The deadline for the spring 2012 issue is Monday, Feb. 6. Submissions received after that date will be considered for the fall 2012 issue. Students and recent alumni also may bring their work to the Collage office, located in Room 224 of the Honors Building, or to theCollage adviser Marsha Powers’s office in Room 225.

Students interested in joining the magazine staff may complete an application available at the Collage office. The deadline for applications for the spring staff is Friday, April 13. Two letters of recommendation and a GPA of 3.0 or higher are required. Qualified staff members can receive permission to register for one hour of pass/fail Honors credit or EXL credit, if desired.
