Because it is a direct recipient of Community Development Block Grant funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, the City of Murfreesboro is required to submit an annual action plan describing how it proposes to use its CDBG allocation in support of its five-year strategic plan. The plan must be submitted for approval to HUD at least 45 days before the beginning of the new fiscal year. The City expects to submit its action plan for FY2011-2012 on or about May 13, 2011. This plan will be the second in support of the current strategic plan.
The City of Murfreesboro delegates programmatic responsibility for administering its CDBG program to the Community Development Department. A public hearing was held on April 6, 2011, at Patterson Park Community Center to introduce the proposed action plan for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2011, and ending June 30, 2012.
The public is invited to submit written comments pertaining to the proposed plan before 4:30 p.m., May 5, 2011. The City will respond to all written comments within 15 days of receipt. All written comments received and the responses to those comments will be incorporated into the plan submitted to HUD.
Please note that because the federal budget for FY2011 had not been approved when the plan was drafted, all dollar figures are estimates. In FY2010, the City’s Community Development Block Grant was $700,162. The FY2011 action plan is based on a grant of $625,000. If the City receives notification of its FY2011 CDBG funding before May 13, 2011, the action plan will be revised reflecting the actual grant amount.
