Get out your needle and thread, glue gun, fabric, beads, and paint. Penny’s Closet wants to invite individuals and businesses to create a decorated or themed “bra art” for a thought provoking, art exhibition, fundraising event to benefit the Cancer Research Institute. Entry forms are available on Penny's Closet's website, www.pennyscloset.com, now through the deadline of October 20th to submit your bras. The $25 entry fee required to enter your bra art will be donated to the Cancer Research Institute. Please make checks payable to the Cancer Research Institute. Each entry should have a theme and/or be given a name. You can design your bra "In Honor" or "In Memory" of whomever you choose. Even though we are decorating bras, the honorees are not limited to people that have or have had breast cancer, as we are striving to find a cure for all cancers. Therefore, you may honor any person with any type of cancer. This year our "Bras For A Cause" fundraiser will be in honor of one of our customers that is fighting breast cancer, a courageous and inspiring lady, Suzanne Midgett! We salute Suzanne for her positive attitude and strength as she fights the most difficult battle of her life!

Bra art will be on display beginning October 1st at Penny's Closet and ready for voting by purchasing a People's Choice Ballot for $1 each. The voting deadline is October 27 at 6:00 p.m. There will be prizes for the top 3 bras. First Place will receive a $100 gift card from Penny's Closet, Second Place will receive a $75 gift card and Third Place will receive a $50 gift card. The Top winner, with the most People's Choice votes, at $1 each, will be the COVER of our 2012 Bras For A Cause Calendar that is printed to raise additional funds for The Cancer Research Institute. The Top 12 bras will be the art for each month of the calendar. Calendars will be for sale at Penny's Closet beginning in December.

The public is invited to our "Bras For A Cause" Party & Auction on Thursday, October 27th from 6:30 p.m. till 8:30 p.m., at Suite #501 in Georgetown Park (a few doors down from Penny's Closet).There will be delicious refreshments catered and generously donated by Coconut Bay and fun for all as you shop the silent auction. The excitement will build as the winners of the bra art will be announced at the close of the party. Items up for bidding will be the decorated bra art, various items donated by local businesses and vendors of Penny's Closet. If you would like to donate items or services to Bras for a Cause, please feel free to drop off at Penny's Closet! All proceeds will go to The Cancer Research Institute, a 4 star charity. CRI is rated the number one charity on Charity Navigator's top ten list of Highly Rated Health Charities.

Additionally, Penny's Closet will host a "Shop For A Cure" Shopping Spree on Friday, October 28th and Saturday, October 29th with 10% of the sales being donated to The Cancer Research Institute.
